Craig A. DeCosta
Mr. De Costa is the former elected Prosecuting Attorney for the County of Kauai. After 12 years as a prosecutor having handled every type of case in that office from traffic tickets to murder trials, Mr. De Costa retired and went into private practice in December 2008. Mr. De Costa is one of the most experienced trial lawyers on Kauai, and he will work to defend you or your loved ones against all serious criminal charges. Mr. De Costa also represents landlords in eviction matters and creditors in debt collections. Craig was born and raised on Kauai.
Daniel G. Hempey
Daniel has tried hundreds of cases to verdict. He has won numerous appeals in the Hawaii Supreme Court. He has been named by Super Lawyers as being in the top 5% of Hawaii attorneys in his field. His practice includes personal injury, auto accident and auto injury, wrongful death, civil rights, criminal defense and appeals. He has dedicated much of his legal career to public justice with a prolific history of pro bono work. Mr. Hempey is a former public defender in Montgomery County, Maryland, and has also worked as a trial attorney / appellate advisor for the Private Defender program in San Mateo County, California. He has served as a judge pro tempore in Alameda, California and currently serves as a Judge Per Diem in the Kauai Family Court.
Michelle L. Premeaux:
Michelle was admitted to the Hawaii Bar in 2011. She worked for a Honolulu civil litigation law firm for more than three years before moving to Kauai and taking a position at the Kauai Prosecutor’s Office. Ms. Premeaux left the prosecutor’s office to work as an associate for Mr. De Costa and Mr. Hempey in August 2015. Ms. Premeaux handles civil litigation.
